City Science Summit Andorra

In September 2017 the City Science group launched the first City Science Summit, held in Andorra, where urban planners, industry leaders, and researchers came together to create a vibrant network of smart cities.

Main Stage Presentations - September 14 and 15, 2017

The first City Science Summit aimed to share the collective knowledge of the City Science Network to understand and plan changes to our communities and our future cities. The summit highlighted the global collaborations and goal to build tools to predict the impact of new urban systems to enable more entrepreneurial, livable, high-performing districts. These urban data observatories also aim to simulate the impact of urban design, energy networks, mobility systems and other urban interventions. The two day conference was hosted in the Andorra Innovation Center and featured PechaKucha style presentations from network researchers followed by round table discussions and presentations. In addition, the summit aimed to extend CityScope capabilities and to test the deployment of urban innovations in a local context.

Presentations were made by the following researchers, leaders, and government officials:

City Science Lab @ Andorra

Andorra and the City Science research group at the MIT Media Lab are taking on the challenge of turning Andorra into an “Internationally Recognized Intelligent Country.” The Andorra Living Lab project combines different research topics (tourism, innovation, energy and environment, mobility, dynamic urban planning) for the future urban challenges of the country. We are collaborating on a unique initiative providing Andorrans with the research, knowledge, methods, and tools to carry out such transformation.
